Activity details
Objective and main expected outcomes or lesson learned
Objectives
To develop capacities for biosafety in support of research, development, transfer and use of biotechnologies in developing countries and countries with economies in transition.

Main outcomes
1)  Under the Development of Bioreactor Micropropagation Method for Pineapple project in Indonesia (  1990 - 1995) , the costs of micropropagated pineapple were reduced below conventional methods. DNAP also worked to develop improvements for the propagation of coffee, bananas and ornamental plants.

2)  The Rubber Tree Research in Malaysia (1993-94) continued at the RRIM to engineer a rubber tree to produce pharmaceuticals.
